ABERNATHY, Manford Clyde

Crawfordsville.  Manford C. Abernathy, 79, 206 S. Grace Ave., Crawfordsville, died at 9:40 p.m. Wednesday Sept 27 1989 at his home. He was born March 21, 1910 in Fountain County, the son of Lucky and Florence Keller Abernathy.  He was married Feb 23 1935 to Madeline Julian, who survives. He was a farmer all of his life in the Cooper's chapel area, retiring in 1976.   He also worked at Hytex in Veedersburg from 1945 - 1969.  He had been a resident of Crawfordsville 13 years and was a member of the Cooper 's Chapel church. Surviving besides his wife, are two daughters, Judy Brasker and Mrs. Dale (Sharon) Kunkle, both of Crawfordsville; a son, Lucky John, Ridgefield, NJ; three brothers, Ora and David both of route 2 Veedersburg and Kenneth, Route 1, Covington; four sisters, Mrs. Raymond (Irene) Wittenmyer, Bloomingdale;  Helen Furr, Rockville;  Geraldine Riley, Thorntown and Mrs. Joe (Sylvia) Coffing, Route 2 Kingman; seven grandchildren and two great gr and children.  He was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters, a son, two brothers and two sisters. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today Friday, at Shelby Funeral Home, Covington.  Funeral services will be there at 2 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. Chris Zachary officiating.  Burial will be in Cooper's Chapel Cemetery.
